On my thirteenth birthday, i got a ferret. A male baby ferret. It was albino, which means white with red eyes. I named him Batman Dracula. I loved him soooooooooo much. He stole food too. It was really funny. We'd often find him dragging a potatoe behind the TV. He was capable of eating almost anything too. He ate froot loops, vanilla cookies, snickers bars, raw potatoes, and his main food is catfood. He ran all over the house. He jumped, attacked my legs, played around, he was so energetic... Just like a ferret should be. But he was very messy. We could never litter box train him. And my parents tried to give him away, but i convinced them otherwize. Now, i walk him every day, like a dog, only we use a shoelace instead of a leash. And we moved him a lot too. First, he lived all over the house, but we had to put him in a place where we could actually see where he pooped and not have it stink up the house. He lived in the bathroom... but it was inconviniet for me. Then we made a big cage for him in the backyard... But it was way too hot outside for him, so now he lives in the laundry room. Weird, huh? NEW CHANGE: Instead of eating catfood, Batman has now changed to a premium ferret blend. Yum! |

On Thrusday, October 15th, 2009, around midnight, my loveable ferret passed away.
The past few days, he's been very exhausted and lazy. He could barely make it to his bed. I didn't realize he was actually sick. At midnight, I found him dead.
He was buried next to our backyard fence, his body wrapped in a blanket. I placed a vase on top of his grave and filled it with a boquet of white roses, deliberately chosen because his fur color was white and because white roses symbolize purity and innocence. I also added a little plastic white decoration I thought looked pretty. I even plan to add a small glass angel to his grave soon.
He was supposed to live for about seven years, like other ferrets. But he only lived for four years and about three months. I cried for hours the night I found him dead. It's the first time I ever really lost a pet this way. I've had to give away pets, and I've had a pet run away, but it's the first time a pet of mine has died.
This is going to be very hard for me... |
